Cannes Accreditation

'To Unwill A Heart' accepted into the Short Film Corner at Cannes

The second part of a research project with Southampton Solent University, and the continuation of the Bevois of Hampshire tale, 'To Unwill A Heart' was accepted into this years Cannes Short Film Corner.

The fifteen minute short was shot in the vaults of Southampton and features a small section from the feature-length script and was scripted/developed in collaboration with local Christian and Muslim actors.

Bevois

An ongoing short film project in hidden vaults of Southampton

The 10th century tale of Sir Bevois of Hampton, the legendary founder of the City of Southampton who spent the most important years of his life in the Middle East, finding love, fighting lions and many battles, is contained in the Auchinleck Manuscript. Performed by minstrels across Europe and Russia, it enjoyed great popularity well into the 17th century. It represents an invaluable witness to the English language and literature that once influenced Chaucer and his generation

The Bevois of Hampton research project aims to make two scripted short films that explore the legend. The first short film was scripted/developed by the project team.

The shoot gained press coverage from the local press and BBC South.
